value of my griff

id like to ask the combined wisdom of all you griff fans and experts,what you think the value of my griff is?im thinking of selling it privately and so avoiding having to part ex it.its done 14.5k miles,is in starmist blue with magnolia half hide,has air con(which works brilliantly btw!),full supplying main dealer service history from new including 6 monthly additional oilchanges during my 2 year ownership.im only the second owner,it will have a full mot at sale.oh,and it has all the leven goodies and kickplates.its in lovely condition throughout,has good so3's all round and runs and drives superbly.all sensible advice/comments greatly appreciated!-cheers mv.oops,silly me.id forgot to add that its a '97 on a p plate and its a 500hc serp engine.cheers again-mike.

I take it that it's the 1997 one on your profile...

£18500 to £19,000 IMO. If you want it to go quick you may want to put it up for a bit less...

I'm no expert though just going on what I see around.

Call your local dealer(s) and ask him(them) to SOR it for you. That way you get a better idea to value.

Good stock like your car would be welcomed and you'd have no advertising costs, or wallys coming round your house (to case the joint) or for test drives.

At £17500 - £18000 you'd sell it easily IMO if you hold out for more you could be lucky or you could scare buyers away.

if its as good as you say with that mileage you are easily looking at £19K.

I have seen higher milegage ones sell for more.
You could get away with putting it up for £21K

A dealer would be selling this for £25K

I have looked at a fair few Griffs recently (no, really ) and have seen older with higher miles sell for £19K

cheers all.im in a position at the mo where i really dont know what to do for the best! i feel the dealer has offered me a good price part ex(21-22k)but of course theres some discount for cash if i buy with no part ex(typically 2k 'ish').oh decisions decisions.and ive got to make my mind up by tomorrow!

Wol was like that, albeit a '96 on a "P" (please Bob), with 11996 miles, we were very happy to pay 20K for him. That was last August, so, with the summer coming, I'd say 20k for yours.

This all seems sound advice - but given the dealer seems to have offered you an excellent p/x, I'd have thought it's worth taking. Apart from the hassle saved, surely this kind of car (at this kind of value) is what people are more likely to go to a dealer for? The older, tattier cars generally being private sales fodder. What I'm saying is, a dealer may have more luck selling it than you.

Thats quite a good part-ex price, but only if that dealer has what you want in stock!
Get quotes from other dealers too. It will give you more choice plus you will see how the quotes vary.
I have heard of a dealer giving £4K more than another one in the same region.
