Key fob problem

The griff has been in the garage now for 10 weeks due to the recent weather and all the snow etc. I plugged it into the trickle charger at the time but it must not have made a good connection in the lighter socket, so when i went to start it the other day it was dead.

Got into the car ok and have now recharged the battery but now the alarm doesn't work and the key fobs don't do anything.So no central locking and no alarm.

The car still starts and drives so it has not affected the immobilizer.

Is there a way to reset everything and get it back to normal? I am pretty sure it is the original factory equipment.

Someone must have done the same thing in the past, i can't be the only one.

If the battery has discharged and then been recharged without disconnecting it, it can cause alarm problems, usually it going off and you being unable to stop it.

Try disconnecting the battery for a few moments now it's fully charged and then reconnecting it.

yes, the alarm has been going off without being able to stop it.

Don't you have to unplug the ecu then press the key fob straight after or something

Cant remember been so long since i had a battery on the car

Gave it a go earlier tonight, made no difference what so ever


Will try the ecu option tomorrow.

Simon, it is not on the original immobiliser. The original one died so Richard from Dulfords fitted a new transponder one. Th original had to be pushed into the recess.


This may be a clue.

Persevered a bit more today with disconnecting the battery and reconnecting and pressing key fob at various stages, with ignition on and off, and hey presto..........it kicked back into action.

Can't quite remember the exact sequence but it paid off in the end.
