People,

Does anyone see a problem with me converting my wheel hubs from 4 stud to 5 so i can put 16inch Cerbera wheels all round.

Any ideas how much this would cost?

Cheers,

martin

Why not go for the factory upgrade, and get the brakes as well. (Long waiting list, mind!)

I am just in the middle of doing this myself, the rears are done and ready to be fitted.
They are ex granada cosworth hubs, redrilled.
The fronts will have to come off first to be done.

I will try to answer any questions, but I am no expert,I can only speak as I have found.

Of course the major problem with converting 4stud hubs to 5 stud hubs is that it is very difficult to overlay a 5 stud over a 4 stud pattern. You may have to weld up a hole and redrill it.

I wasn't planning to do the work myself ;-)

My griff is sitting in a garage at the moment, after 6 months of repair, and the wheels cannot be replaced. And looking around, it seems easier to go to 5 stud than try and find resonable 4 stud wheels.

I can't afford the TVR upgrade :-(

It seems to me that there are plenty of second hand Cerbie wheels floating around ( due to spyder upgrades ) so I just wanted to know if it was possible, so I could ask the garage to do it.

The factory upgrade simply puts a ring behind the existing flange (this is then drilled with the extra holes) and slightly longer studs are used. Try Leven, they were going to do a 5 stud kit before the factory offer IIRC.

Yea its not a problem, I did mine myself and then told the factory how to do it (not that I'm bitter of course) if you want any help or advice feel free to email me but I really can't be arsed to go into great detail here as I've described it a few times before, try the archive.

Richard Smith at Peninsula engineered new hubs for mine. Speak to him about what you want doing and he'll give you a price breakdown. zz

surely griff hubs are standard ford items would it not be easier to change them to 5 stud ford hubs from a granny and just by some nice aftermarket wheels like bbs or something even fancier like fikse
surely it would be cheaper than messing around drilling and putting in spacers

Unless you're really set on some Cerby wheels, why not just get a set of aftermarket wheels to fit the 4 stud pattern?

i think there is a better choice of wheels for a five stud pattern although you do have a good point

If only life was that easy alas its not, yes granadas and transits have a 5 stud pattern, not the same as the spiders mind but no they can't be simply put on a Griff, its complicated and all to do with which wheels are driven etc and I cna't really be arsed to go into it but the long and the short of it is they don't fit.
