speedo needed

mine has died and a new one is needed. the car is a 95 preserp with a standard black speedo. NB i have seen the ones from the breakers on ebay but thought that £150 was too steep will also post on the chim forum thanks Jes

If you can't get hold of one, these guys are excellent (http://www.speedycables.com), they may be able to repair yours or supply a new one fitted with your existing dial/casing etc. I've not used them for a few years but I remeber they were very helpful over the phone. If you post it to them they'll give you a price to repair/replace.

Definitely the speedo head and not the signal from the diff, as these give up as well?

I sourced a replacement for mine from the dreaded breakers, £100 only 2yrs ago

definitely the speedo - works upto 70mph then it stops. The black plastic card with the numbers on is also warped and damged and i think that may also be jammimg the needle. took it apart and theres nothing i can do with it unfortunately

I've got the internal from my last one, mucking about I blew the milometer, but the rest works. Although mine is a digital display Cerberra and later Chimaera style one.
