I need to put some oil in the car as it is getting towards the bottom of the dipstick, so much question is how much oil will the engine take before I get to the top of the dipstick.

It's usually a litre between the high and low marks. Put a bit in at a time if in doubt.

Mine is about 1 litre from bottom line to top line.

Try and top up regularly and don't let it get near the bottom as it's not good for the engine to let it run low.

I keep mine topped up, so I'm only asking out of interest, but is it possible to get oil surge issues on a standard-tyred Griff when cornering with the oil at the min level?

I would advise anyone to check the oil weekly and top up accordingly to the top level HTH
