Damn Handbrake...

Well, I've had the car just over 5 weeks... and last night I had my first bad experience with the handbrake!!
Parked on a slight incline, waited for the fans to switch themselves off as normal, out of the car be noted!! Switched off the engine, went inside the house, and about 15mins later heard a rather large BANG!!
Guess what!? The car had rolled down the incline about 20metres and parked itself in the side of a Mercedes C32AMG...
DEVASTATED!!! I got in the car to move it away, and hey presto the handbrake was full-on! Anyone else had a similar experience...? I'll definately be leaving it in gear from now on, once the rear-end repairs are finished!!!!

Yes, the handbrakes are crap. TVR file off every other ratchet tooth so there's nothing between 'still rolls backwards' and 'need both hands to get the bastard off'.
I only trust mine on level ground - which is a bit pointless! - and don't leave it on while garaged to avoid binding. First gear is much better.
For some reason I always depress the clutch of any car before turning the key. Must've been a nasty surprise once that conditined me!

Phew, and I thought I'd suddenly gone weak, found it very difficult to do hill starts but no doubt will find the answer.
Rotten weather this week haven't taken the Griff out since last Sunday not bothered about the rain though, it's just the amount of farm residue I don't want on the underside!
Having lived with Saabs for umpteen years (lock gearbox in reverse before ignition key can be removed) I also keep my foot on the brake whilst depressing the clutch before starting. Old habits die hard.
