adjusting door hinges

can i get to the top door hinge bolts without removing the dash? Have located the lower hinge bolts ok but cant quite get the right adjustment to set trailing edge gap correct and need to loosen the top hinge too, but looks like i have to get behind the dash?
Anyone done this?

I'm pretty sure that you can get to the bolts without removing the dash, that is certainly the case for the passenger side (visibility is improved if you remove the glovebox and I'm sure I was also able to get to the bolts on the drivers side - you'll probably need to be a bit of a contortionist to be able to see what you are doing though.

Door hinges on my Griff are ball jointed, so I presume yours will be too. You might be able to adjust the door hang without having to undo both hinges. Photos below both show the bottom hinge/joint. you can see how much movement there is if you compare the two photos.

I see, i thought it was a tube or rod that passed through the door. So the ball joints allow the hinges to be adjusted laterally without putting any strain on the hinge, and of course allow the door to open smoothly, in place of a hinge formed by a loose bolt and washers.

Adjusting the lower hinge back and forwards raises and lowers the rear of the door fine, this gets the position right verticaly ok, but the problem that remains is that the door catch bar rubs on the body work so i need to move the whole door forwards a tadge, so this means i have to get to both hinges and move them forward a couple of mm.

Will have a go this weekend, so long as i can get to the top hinge as chaps have suggested on here then should be done in a matter of minutes, and the crock neck im bound to get will only last a few weeks!!
