Can someone tell me how would H224 cam compare to H218 and H404?
Cheers,
Ozren
Hi ozren
The 224 would have a higher power band than the H218 and give far less torque at low rpm, V8 racing would give more details but i would suggest that the H404 would still produce slightly more power than the H224 even at high rpm, and more torque as well, the H224 is an old design whereas the 404 has been designed with all the latest knowledge and experience.
IMO the 218 and 404 cover thew market very well, the 218 being the softer cam & 404 offering more exitement.

the torque curves were pretty much identical.
we over laid tiny/my graphs...mine were just a touch higher! 250lbft@2750...270lbft@4250/4750....
the MC1 and the 404H are both FAB cams.

Excellent day, Guillotine! Since you've spilled the beans I'll report 253bhp / 260lbft for mine, maxed out on the injectors...
Hi Tiny,
In fact, I’ve gone thought that thread several times. Did you have a chance to overlay your graph with Starmist (Taraka) one – how do they compare in terms of the torque curve (low/mid rpm range). Tks, Ozren
all the kent cams range excluding the 218 and the ones i have developed with kent are based upon 3.5 litre engines so in fairness a 224 as tim said is realy old hat now in a 5 litre, the bigger the capacity the faster you can open the valve whilst still maintaining good air speed, the mc1 is a tried and tested cam that works good in all the rev range, the 404 is more a sports cam but the downside is mechanical lifters, the 404h at the moment is only fitted in guillotines car, and although first signs are very impressive i cant really say more than that?
Please dont compare power graphs between tiny's car and guillotines car as they are running totaly different induction systems which IMHO tinys will flow a lot more hence make the cam look as good as guillotines if that makes any sense!!!?

listen to the man...he KNOWS what he's talking about!
i can vouch for the 404H (AND the 404). the 404H is very nearly as good as the 404 with NO agro!!! with the improved induction mods due on my car over the next month, i expect it to show even more on the road closing the gap even further. fabulous power and a pussycat round town, what more could you ask?
I'm sure (as i think V8 racing suggests) that the 404H will be as good or better than the 404 if correctly fed.
anyway, just go for what he suggests and you won't go wrong
