sound deadening

Anyone got any ideas on a quick way to remove that horrible hairy sound proofing material from a mk1 mini, it is stuck on with bitumen I think.
burning off did spring to mind but panel distortion could be a problem.
it could stay but the modern sound proofing materials are much better.

Yeah thought it might be something labour intensive like that, (but what on a
