Just a bit of idle speculation....
Does anyone know about those Isofix child seats ?
The Misses has them in her company car and they are dead good. They just clamp in
to a pair of posts on the body of the vehicle hidden behind the rear seats. Very solid...
No mucking about with seat belts to hold the seat in.
Is there any way to engineer this into a Mini ?

I don't see why not - the only tricky bit would be making sure that the isofix mounts were secured to a suitable robust part of the bodyshell - needless to say no rust around the area is essential!
There might be a few issues with you being able to prove that your isofix installation was up to scratch?
I had a quick nose on google:

Item 6 is the isofix mounting.

Interesting, I was thinking about whether it would be possible to retrofit these to my BMW. Was thinking I wouldn't want to be responsible for the strength of the welds, but it looks from that parts list that they bolt in. We have Isofix in the Fabia and it really does latch the seat in stupidly firmly.

I found that link from a MINI2 forum, where they say that the mounts bolt in, and all MINIs have the bolt holes in place, you just need a new seat base with the access flaps (of just hack holes in your seat base I suppose)...miniman said:
Ah, I have a BMW 5-series, rather than a BMW Mini! But I will have a look and see if it has a similar arrangement. On my Fabia, they are definitely welded in.
Try this:http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?model=DH32&a...
Can't see it as immediately obvious on there though...
