great day for progress
Discussion
today has been great, my gaffa called me this morning sick so day off work (bonus). i called jeff who came down right away and full of energy. We removed the A panels to get to the rust behind them pictured below

I cut all the rust out (which was a b
h of a job), linished all around to the clean metal, made some new panels to run straight down just past the hole that houses the air duct behind the dash so i had to cut the hole into the new panel i made (also a b
h of a job without the right tools, it took a while but i got it perfect). Had to do this to both sides but gladly all done now and skuttle in place for tomorow.

some advice needed please what would you do here???????? .....thanks neale...

forgot to say, whilst jeff was welding , i wondered off into the shed to get my fags. On my return i see lots of black smoke (OH s
t), ive just cleaned up the whole bulkhead, flatted it down and primed it so i masked up the lower engine bay in NEWS PAPER!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I ran over to the mini and just started ripping the burning paper out and throwing it over my head like a man possesed and setting fire to the grass and cardboard behind me. The next thing i know, jeff has got the hose on full blast covering me and the still burning mini in some much needed water.
I was soaked but the fire was out. I primed it in white which is now 2 3rds charcoal black so back to the flatting down for me. Hehehe we laughed our nuts of after.

impressed your doing the scuttle with the wings in situ, ive always thought this was impossible to do properly.
p.s your not a proper welder until youve had a fire!
good effort!
thanks guru, I do remember a few weeks bak you told me to remove the wings but once the space under both arches were cleared i.e air pipes under drivers side and the vacuum (i think thats what it is) from passenger side and A panels removed, there is plenty of room to get around, but on the other hand we havnt started welding the skuttle yet so anything could happen and if so wings off. Ill let you no in a while how i get on im just going out to start it befor i run out of light. p.s my welding i coming on now and ive found out im real good at body repairs, (result for me) ill post some repair pics i have done so you can be the judge. thanks again...neale...p.s your not a proper welder until youve had a fire!

Keep up the good work. It looks as though you're doing very well with the welding.
thanks cooperman, havent seen you for a while. Well here are my first couple of body repairs, ive think ive done a grand job but you guys may differ so honest opions please. The first repair is the door step which is almost finished just needs another rub down, i replaced the whole corner down to the bottom seem. The bulk head was a little worse and challenging, i cut the rust out, made the plates and welded it inside and out, ground it down and reshaped.
I hope these are up to standards so let me know what you think..thanks neale..
