Thanks cooperman for the comments on my repairs its a great confidence builder.

Guru, i managed to fit the skuttle no probs with the wings on, infact it seemed to be a very simple job although preping took half of the day, (probly why it fitted so well) the cows ears (skuttle supports) went in no probs too. Here is a few pics and check out the join from skuttle to the post, i hope your as impressed as me. The drivers side is done pretty much ive just gotta finish passenger side which was a bit triky. We had to cut and shape a panel for the post where we removed the rust. Let me know what you think..thanks neale..

nice huh

Well guru youve dun a great job it looks awsome. And...youre right i have to do my door. Jeff decided to open my door but what he didnt realise was, there was no hinge nuts on it so it went crashing to the floor (ouch) and folded the whole corner inwards. He went off to straighten it out and found it was rotten underneath but i dont think its the outer door skin but maybe the inner so what would you suggest here hopfully you can make it out on pic, the seam is shot.

On a different subject it seems the repairs i done on the skuttle join and door step wasnt as smooth as i though, after priming if found some small deviations and tiny scratches so the last few days ive spent flatting like crazy, i think i have it now what do you think. advice on the door would be great, a big thanks in advance..neale.

i started with a rough 1993 mayfair shell, which was a mistake as the rot complicated things, its better to start with a good shell (ive got a fully paneled up minter mk1 hybrid to do next....) this one was very much a practice car so isnt perfect, there is a good skim of filler in places!, but i had to do one side, make a set of jigs then do the other, so its improved as ive gone round it.

i did make the mistake of chopping the rear seat back clean across the middle, so i have that to repair.....

im going to get it finished, sort all the rot out, fill it and prime it and its going on ebay.

im not going to chop the next one as much as this one - its had 2" pillers / 2" body, but retains the std roof size. i cant even begin to describe how had sorting the pillers out was.

doing the door skins is a real pain, you need to chop it off, then repair the seam, then refit a new skin.

the door is very flexible with no skin, so its hard to keep it all true, though once its one you have a bit of twisting wriggle time, then weld the skin to the frame in a few places to stop it moving.

Thanks guru but no thanks i think i might opt for the expensive new door. ive been quoted £190 and thats trade from mini spares but its heritage so maybe worth it. I havent checked the passenger side door yet im dreading it, if it has rotted which is highly likley ill be facing a hefty £400 bill(ouch). Or £42 for each heritage skin, probly about 20 pain staking hrs to do and being my first time ill probly weld them up out of shape and end up buying new ones anyway.
