i have an oppertuity to by a 1995 mini mayfair 1300cc non runner
the seller said that he feels its the fule management system (pointing to a lap top looking box in the left hand coner of the engin bay)
he is a genuine bloke and has said he played arround butting 8- 12 volts to the unit to get it started but it needs this voltage to start again.
he said it will cost about £300 to replace
can you help with the idea of handing over £800 to buy ie worth it?

Be very careful!It might have a simple problem or you could open a very large can of worms.I remember someone i know had a multipoint cooper that was having serious running problems,he replaced alsorts.In the end it turned out to be the crank sensor that had a damaged wire causing it.Unless you know your way round a multipoint injection engine i would stay clear,no matter how cheap it is.
