Hi, I have just bought an LCB Manifold and would like to paint it silver so as to do away with the nasty black colour it currently is.
Any suggestions on what's best to use?
Thanks in advance

^^ I did the same. Bought some swanky uber high temp red paint (which apparently is advertised as for use with manifolds etc.!) rubbed all the shiny black paint off the LCB and sprayed in a nice red colour.
Its now flaked off and looks rhubarb. At least you can't really see the manifold on the mini that well.
Trust us and leave it black!!

not necessarily, why dont try this. Take your exhaust and heat it up SLOWLY (it must be really hot) but being the manifold it will withstand extreme heat, then get a large rag soaked in old engine oil and rub over the hot exhaust, this traps the oil into the metal and if heated up properly wil give a great effect and a few different colours. this was done on a bike exhaust and looked great but did take a long time . it may pay to do it in sections than trying to heat it all at once. the bonus to this it WONT burn off

hope this helps

Have you seen the exhorbitant price of rhubarb in the supermarkets.....

On the other hand if your car was a sort of custard yellow colour.....

Repainted mine black but that "fell off" too, now it's covered in oil from the "problem" I don't care.

I put heat rap on then painted. Still looks good but may not be what you are after.

heat rap is real good, thats the easiest way to get the problem solved propery. Your manifold is mostly out of sight so no real need to paint once rapped unless cometics are an issue.

case closed..

They are ment to be reduction of under bonnet temperature and keeping heat in the exhast speeds up gas flow giving more power. I have found that my carb keeps cooler but I dont know if it gave me much more power. The only down side I know is that it can make the manifold rust quicker. The paint on the rap is ment to help. The rap is woven and can absorb water so the paint is ment to help seal it. I think it looks quite race car and stops me burning my self quite so much. Any one else on what they think of exhast rap?

I've heard that too much heat can weaken welds in the manifold. Ceramic coating is a much better solution.

Is it anything like gangsta rap? biggrin

Exhaust wrap causes mild steel to corrode more quickly and stainless to crack more easily due to the elevated temperatures.
