Hi all,
I have just moved to my new house in Chelmsford, Essex. Now that the compulsory work of painting, new carpets, fix the bathroom has been completed I am in a good position to give some attention to my neglected Mini.
I have two area that I am mainly going to concentrate on:
Engine rebuild (Supercharged)
Bodywork overhaul
I am happy with building the engine myself, did the one that’s in the car at the moment and that is sounding sweet after 20k, so I will get a donor engine and go to town. The main issue is the car needs a new front end. About 4 years ago I had a Carbon Fibre front fitted, it looked great but I didn’t like the way it took so much of the rigidity out of the body and one of my friends had a crash in a Mini with a FG front and the car was a total mess, rippled the roof, severed one of his feet (subframe coming through the bulkhead) so I went back to an all steel front. This is where the problem lies. The person who did the front was a total cowboy and I am not happy with the standard of work. The gaps are all out and the wings do not fit well. I have been back several time to him but the correction work is of really poor quality so I am just not bothering anymore.
I am ok with a welder, and have done some bodywork in the past, so I will be looking to do all of the panel work myself, I just need someone to prep it and spray it; so two questions;
Are we agreed that VmaxScart make the best SC kits, and does anyone know a good bodyshop that would be willing to let me do the panel work?

Thanks all

Maybe I will, you seem to meet about 5 minutes from my house!
