Could someone point me in the right direction please.

I saw a thread recently do do with cutting away the rear arch/wing to accomodate lowered suspenders on a spot pack with 7x13's

Any one help?

Or advice...roghts and wrongs

Thanks

you don't have to cut the rear arches. my mini was running sports pack wheels and still has the sports pack arches when i fitted my hydraulics and even with it dumped right down the wheel never touched the arch.

Must be doing something wrong....mines crashing on the arch a lot even 1 up and it's not as low as it was.

I can never understand why anyone would want to lower a road-going Mini. The little things have little enough suspension travel for normal road use to begin with and when you lower them you actually lose more overall performance than you gain due to them jumping about on bumpy and twisty roads when the suspension 'bottoms-out'.

I have my fast fun cars....this is just a little fun project so it's form over function.

The std supsnsion set up on a sport looks pretty rediculous to my mind...so jacked up on the rear.

The answer is to ditch the 13's and fit proper sized wheels smile

what shocks are you running? it sounds to me that they are either knackered or they are too soft.

PL Minis do a Sports Pack arch template kit which you stick on the current wings and it shows you where to cut and drill. However it only refers to cutting the front wings, and just drilling the correct holes in the rear wings. Might be worth giving them a call to see what they say. The kit is here:

the sportspac templetes dont cut the rear wings, only the fronts. the rear ones only show the drill points for the captive nuts.

if your car is running sports pack wheels and they are catching the body work you need a set of new rear (genuine) cones. the weight of the sportspack wheels wears the rubber cones out in no time and they flatten down and loose their ability to soak the bumps up. a new set of cones will let you lower the car a little more as the suspension will become more progessive.

'tubbing' the wheel arches is a hard job and will (IMHO) ruin you car, once you have done it there is no turning back and i doubt it would be worth while unless you are aiming for a very very low car (say 3/4" between tyre and arch).

Fitted new genuine rubbers and they7 seem softer than the ones I took off. The ones that were on tehre I think I must have fitted a year ago, they are shorter and harder.

With the genuine ones fitted and the car sitting much higher it rubs almost constantly....perhaps I have used the wrong ones.
