Hey people, I'm looking in to buying myself a Mini, clearly otherwise my heading would make no sensetongue out any way, I am just looking for advice as to which model would suit me best. I'm looking to spend about £2000-ish, for a motor with a more than decent body, as I really cant afford a spray job. Also has to run, if in need of a few mechanical or interior jobs no big deal, as it'll be sitting up for a few months, as I plan to put my own flair on it before I get it tearing up the streets. 1.0 litre would be the preferred engine size. So any and all advice appreciated

Cheers

My advice would be to be choosy, take a mate who knows what they are on about. And be patient.

Thats what i did. I ended up with this one for £1800! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

i think you need to accept that any mini you look at in your price range will need body work, unless your very lucky.

you will probably have to accept that if you get one with good body / paint then evry thing else is going to be needing work.

im nearly finished on my 1984 mayfair resto, its had all the panels, paint, virtually all new brakes and suspension, new trim etc etc.

its cost a lot more than 2 grand to do it!

(shockingly more - i dont want to own up what ive blown on the old unloved scabby thing!)

I just happen to know where there is a very nice Mk 2 Mini 1000 with a rust-free body and needing no work. For c.£1800 it will have a full 12 months MoT and if I didn't have a workshop full of Minis I would immediately buy it.
If you want the number to vcall just email me. A good Mk 2 at that price is fantastic.

Cheers for the advice guys, much appreciated. Only thing is that price isnt the main issue, its just the model where I'm stuck. Really just looking for a good model to make a project
