Very subjective as to which is better. The Vauxhalls do suffer more with torque steer, and only an 8v will go in a stock round front. But they are cheaper to buy the parts for and cheaper to go quicker. If you google it there are loads of people discussing it.

And only 1 company does a Vtec conversion that uses stock suspension and brakes (I blieve)
I think you could build a more refined Vtec, but hop over to 16vmini.co.uk and have a look. Several people on there have owned both XE vauxhall and Vtec minis and will be able to offer advice to the differences between the 2.
