Traveller wood
Discussion
Hi
I'm putting a woody traveller together for a friend (long story) and I'm at the point where the wood needs to go on. It's been rubbed down in the past by someone so I guess it will need treating/sealing. Any recommendations on what to use?
Thanks
Neil
Pic of the car if anyone is interested. It's by no means original or concourse but it should look tidy enough when done.

on the one me and a mate did we just sanded it down and used exterior varnish - it did the trick.
it just needs doing every couple of years.
your woody looks great - my only 'wince' would be that you didnt weld the two extra holes up on the heritage scuttle panel, and the washer jet hole are in the wrong place for a mk1, but im a fussy bugger!!! ha ha!!

Thanks, I'll get some varnish then.
I'm just the assembly monkey, all the bodywork was done by a garage around 10 years ago. It stood as a rolling shell for 5 years after the owner split from her boyfriend, and it's been in my garage for nearly 5 years! My missus suggested I put it together for our friend after building a large garage left me no money for my my own projcet cars.
There's loads that needs fixing really - the fit of the doors is bad, it has cover sills on it
, they put a late tunnel for a rod change in it but it's not quite in the right place causing problems with the gearlinkage and exhaust, and they painted it the wrong colour to start with so after a second respray there is loads of paint gumming everything up. The 1293 engine that came with the car (the original 850 is lost) is a bit sick and missing so many parts I put a spare 998 from a racing green in it until she can afford to have her engine rebuilt properly.
In fact most of the parts from the whole car disappeared over the years. It's been a bit of a nightmare and I'll be glad to see the back of it
