If the GTA engine is a 'K-series', then the answer is yes, but there is a huge amount of structural work needed and a Mini Clubman length front is necessary. It's really not worth it unless you are seriously into engine swaps and even then there are better alternative engines to fit. I think the GTA is only about 103 bhp and you can easily get that and more with the original 1275 based A-series for a fraction of the cost and work of fitting a GTA lump.

The GTA badge covers three different engine variants! The MG Metro was replaced by the GTA in the last days of the A+ series engined cars, and the badge was then re-used for the Rover Metro with both 8v and 16v 1.4 K Series engines.

If it is the K there is a couple of people how do kits to fit them. Still not easy but a lot of the work has been done. I am shore I have seen on in the round fronted mini? But I do go along with this not being the best engine to fit. Power is not very high and they were not that good in the GTA (I had one and it is one of the worst cars I have had). Good luck with what ever you do.

You can do a lot with an A. If you are 1000cc the change to 1275cc will make a good up in power. Also try a stage 1 kit. I got some good second and engines that had been worked on. There is a risk with this but you can save a lot of money.
