Not got one on the car at the moment, but would like to put one on, as I had one on my last mini.

But that was some years ago and I recall that after fitting it last time I had racks wear out a lot faster?

If one is fitted does the rack need to be repositioned, or is it just a case of putting the bracket in there?

Bit of advice would be appreciated please smile

Not done this in a while, but I seem to remember being told to loosen off the 2 sets of U-bolt nuts that hold the steering rack against the heel board (under the carpet either side of the transmission tunnel), remove old bracket, then lower the steering column, fit the new bracket and then do the U-bolt nuts again.

This allows the rack to rotate slightly and will ensure that the column and splined spigot that comes off the rack all stay in line.

That's my take on it, but I'm sure others will chip in......

Absolutely correct. Slacken off the 2 off per side 1/2" AF nuts under the carpet befoe you take out the column bracket bolt and do up the bracket bolt before finally tightening the nuts on the floor. It's about a 20 minute job at most.
