Is it me, or ae the current Lucas coils of poor quality.
I did a Mini about 8 months ago and after rebuilding the engine, it would not run proiperly. I couldn't get a spark, so I changed the condenser and, eventually, despite it having a new-looking coil, changed that which cured it. The car has now come back for some more work and, lo & behold, it wouldn't run properly. The new Lucas coil I fitted 8 months ago has failed. I tried as really old one I had on my shelf and it works fine.
This is not the first Lucas coil to give problems either.
Has the quality dropped or am I just unlucky?

I agree. Just had the same problem with a new coil I fitted to an MGB I look after. It lasted about 4 days and then started to break down. I put a 20 year old coil on it until the faulty one was swapped and it ran perfectly. The second new coil seems fine. (for now)

I just heard that there are some coils available in the USA which are top quality. I bet they are expensive, though.
