Help Needed- Sump Plug
Discussion
I hope someone can help me...
I drained the oil from my mini tonight but when I came to replace the sump plug it wouldn't tighten.
I didn't cross thread it but when I looked inside with a torch it looks like there isn't enough thread for the plug to grip to.
I am hoping there is a simple solution.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Thanks Guys
I have been looking and what you are saying seems to be the way to go.
Tapered- short term and the Helicoil for longer term.
Thanks for your help
Hi, I do have a specialist tool for enlarging the original hole, and then screwing in a special steel insert which is then the same size as the original sump plug. It actually creates a better thread than the original!! It is similar to a helicoil, but far superior.Let me know if I can be of help, HowardI have been looking and what you are saying seems to be the way to go.
