Over the past few weeks my indicators have been deciding when they do and don't want to work, this includes the hazards. But in the last few days its got alot worse as now they only work for the first 5 mins of any journey. I replaced the flasher unit and still the problem continues.

Its driving me mad! Please help

I've turned them on while its working on my drive and moved the wires about to see if there is anything loose and i can't get them to stop working it only seems to happen while actually driving and its kind of hard to do anything then.

Random electrical gremlins typically stem from bad earths.

Emery paper and vaseline.

Clean all the earthing points around the car with the emery paper, reconnect and then cover them in petroleum Jelly (vaseline) when their clean to stop water corroding them again.

the problem turned out to be the hazzard switch malfunctioning. I took it apart and cleaned it making sure it went back together properly and now it works!

That was after replacing 6 inline fuses and rewireing alot of the car because it was all rot! but cured alot of other electiral problems too!

As a point of interest, and it's not immediately obvious, but the hazard switch also contains a contact which disconnects power to the normal indicator circuit when the hazards are on. This allows the hazards to work off a permanent live whilst the indicators will only work off an ignition switched live. This stops the ignition circuits becoming live when the hazards are operated. This can be the cause of many wiring problems and lots of confusion!!!
