RR TD6 - Service Intervals
Discussion
Hi All,
This is something that has been bugging me for quite a while now! The service book for my td6 says for the service interval 'refer to indicator' - which to me means its not a service schedule that is on a time limit, more or miles and usage.
However, if you ring land rover, some dealerships say go by the indicator regardless, and others say its annual? But the offical landrover book clearly says go by the indicator.
This presents me with a bit of a problem, as my RR has always been serviced when indicated, for the past 2 years it has had very little use (less than 5000m pa), so the indicator is still showing a good few thousand miles to the next service!
I am considering taking the car in for a service anyway, just for peace of mind - but this then creates a bit of an anonamlie in the history e.g serviced @ 68000 in 2009, and then serviced @ 79000 in 2011 - when previously it has been serviced nearly every year as the the owner had done more miles.
Might be me being paranoid, but peoples thoughts would be appreciated!

Land Rover has a known problem with the service interval indicator. They know about it; they won't admit to it.This is something that has been bugging me for quite a while now! When your car has done 25k miles without the indicator telling you to have a service they will suggest that you might consider a service "if you want to be cautious, Sir".
Unfortunately, with regard to this problem, Land Rover seems to lack any degree of integrity. Main dealers often reject (for trade in) cars with wide service intervals, yet Land Rover denies all responsibility because the handbook says that the owner should rely upon the service indicator.
