Just got a p38 R reg.At spot on 50mph the steering starts to shake quite violently and then you are throught it as you accelerate.Fitted a new steering damper today but has made no differance.Any clues on wot to do next...

Warped discs, buckled alloy or more likely unbalanced rims

I don't know if P38s have them but if they do check the swivel bearing preloads. If thet are loose you'll woblle like a jelly over 50.
I never managed to drive through it mind.

Have the wheels been changed to newer RR wheels ,if they have and you have not got the required locator rings fitted to the centre of your hubs the wheels will not be centred and can cuse this problem, you can pick them up on ebay, make sure you buy ally ones and not the cheaper plastic ones.I have had to do this on my Disco 2 when I put my bling 20"RR Sport wheels on!
