Without wishing to spark yet another debate about re-mapped diesels, I am wondering whether it is worthwhile considering a re-map for the above. I take delivery of a 2007 2.7 TDV6 next weekend. The car drove well on the test drive, bearing in mind the type of vehicle that we are considering here. However, I felt that it might benefit from better step-off and perhaps a little more response once on the move.

I am unconcerned by top speed or being the first off the lights. But improvements in the above areas and, perhaps, in fuel economy, would be welcome. Is this a worthwhile exercise and, if so, are there any particular recommendations? I have been looking at Alive Tuning and the Superchips Bluefin so far.

All input appreciated.

More power and more torque. Why would anyone not want it?

Don't by it for mpg reasons though. Ok you might see as good or even slightly better mpg if driven accordingly. But the long and short of it is you are forcing more fuel into the combustion chamber. It will use more diesel if you make use of the power.

The only real way you can tell is try it for yourself. Maybe see if any of the tuning companies have a demo vehicle you could test drive. That said I'm not sure I've ever heard a single person say they wish they hadn't had a vehicle remapped.

Bluefin throws up error codes. Alive Tuning are very good as are JE Engineering.

Get it done as it TRANSFORMS the performance of the vehicle.

Thanks for the comments. I will give Alive and JE a ring to see what they can do.
