I recently had to change the NS front half shaft seal, approximately 30 miles later i began to notice the brake pedal had become spongy, 5 miles later and i've not got the 3 amigo's showing.

If when i go to brake i press the pedal twice it becomes firm again so i suspect i have either a leak or air in the system.

Does anyone have any advice ie common failure points? I suspect the 3 amigo's may be a different issue caused by disturbing it to remove the hub for the half shaft seal. I've had a quick look at the NS calliper and can't see any signs of brake fluid, the level on the reservoir is also fine.

Last time this happened me it was a valve which is bolted on the inner wing on the passenger side.

Not saying this is the problem with yours though.

First thing you need to do is check for leaks, if you had the calipers off, the pipes are unbelievably easily damaged if you're not carefull. Check your fluid level too. Is it going down? If it's going down, the fluid is obviously escaping somewhere.

Thanks for your reply, i've had a good look for leaks and can't see any, fluid level hasn't dropped either. Is the valve on the inner wing the ABS modulator? The bit of googleing i've done so far suggests this could be at fault (Hopefully not as it's not a cheap fix!)

Just thought i'd let people know the outcome:

Had another look tonight, jacked it up and felt for play in the wheel bearing/hub and it was fubarred! At least 5mm of play, replaced it and all's good.
