I flattened the battery whilst removing the boot wiper motor last night (spent too long with the music on/ interior lights etc). I hadnt realised how crap range rover battery life is until I read up on here post event.

Charged it today with the following results:

Full charge 12.6volts
Running - 14.21 volts
Running with aircon and high beam 14.16volts

turned off with high beam on for 1 minute 12.26 volts.

Anyone done similar to compare. I have found oen thread on FFRR which suggests the battery isnt thatbad.

Also I have now put the battery back on and started it up but the 'air suspension inactive' message has appeared. Is that just a case of recalibrating it as it worked fine before last night.

Oh and I think Ive fixed the motor which was full of crap and rusted up as someone at the design stage had the bright idea of running the water supply through the motor wheels (which eventually leaks and seizes the cogs up).

Cheers
J

Update.. motor is screwed. It works but as soon as you connect the wiper it doesn't take the load.
Re the 'air suspension inactive' message - thats now sorted, just case of driving it lock to lock to recalibrate the sensors.

common FFRR problem with rapid battery drain - as i recall all 2011 cars were recalled to have their batteries changed to 'high power'?

because with my shooting/fishing i have the tailgate open for long periods i've removed all the bulbs associated to avoid battery drain

and yes the rear wiper design is crap - water through arm etc which leads to rust big time - most owners don't see it as the arm is 'hidden' under the spoiler

have a look at 'yours' and be prepared to be shocked!

taken the motor to bits and its screwed.. full of gunk and all rusted up. Even the plastic cover on the inside of the boot lid was caked in crap... Not a very good design.

Whats the best battery to get as Ive checked it this morning and its draining overnight

All 2011 vehicles were recalled to install an AGM battery because of a drain problem. Perhaps look at one of those if you are after a replacement.
