Ack.

So, last MOT, I got an advisory on worn ball joints in a drag link bar on the front of my P38. So I bought one. Except that the part that has turned up, is for the front of the axle, and attaches to obviously the 2 hubs, and also the steering box.

What I'm after is the bar and 2 drag link ends that are behind the front axle, and attach to both hubs, but not the steering box.

What the hells it called?! All I can find on drag link bar is the bar I've already got for the front of the axle

You need a track rod !

...and right hand and left hand track rod ends. They are LH and RH threaded on Defenders and Discos so I assume they are on P38s as well. BTW, it's unlikely that the actual track rod has failed the MOT unless it's bent, more likely the track rod ends (ball joints!).
