Just been recovered by green flag and it souds like the fuel pump has gone. It's making loads of noise and the car makes no attempt to fire! What's this going to cost me?

Depends on your car (petrol / diesel etc). ISTR the pump for the V8 coming in at under 100 quid. Easy enough job to replace.

If it's a V8 check to see if you're getting a spark first. Crank sensor is always the first thing to check from my experience, cheap as beans to replace, if a tad awkward to get at.

Check ebay for bargains, used mind. The Defender TD5 pump is the same.

Took the car into Marshalls Land Rover and they couldn't find anything wrong with it! They said they left the ignition on to clear an air lock. They checked everything that could cause the car to just cut out but couldn't find any issues. Got it back today, supposed to be going on holiday in it tomorrow but must admit I'm a tad nervous! On a good note Marshalls didn't charge me for looking at the car.
