LT77; disco into defender?

My plan is to acquire another gearbox and rebuild it in time for the one in my 110 breaking or becoming too unpleasant to use. I've been offered a tired disco LT77; how much difference is there, and is it difficult/possible to change between the two?

bellhousing and input shaft are the two glaring differences, gear change mechanism also differs between the two.

You can rebuild one as the other but it's a fair bit of work.
