We have received a letter from Land rover agent stating that out Td V6 2.7 is ready (due to age not mileage) for a timing belt change. Is this a must or simply a stealer dealer whim?

What would the cost be at main agent? Would a competent mechanic be able to change it himself? And for what cost?

The belts are to be changed every 105k or 7 years, depending on which comes first.
It can be done with a competent mechanic, theres a guide and how to on disco3.co.uk on what to do and what parts are best to replace while it's being done.

Usually a LR specialist will charge £500+ and a main dealer could be double it.

If it was my car and the belts were due, i would change them but look around to see who can do it for the best price. smile
