Is there any way of identifying which head gasket is fitted to a 300Tdi before removing the head?

I have a snapped glow plug and the head is coming off to fix it

There should be a small tab formed by part of the gasket poking out from between the head and block, with a number of holes punched in it (1, 2 or 3).
IIRC it's on the RHS of the block but it's a while since I did mine.

Looking forwards, as per the driver's POV. Like I said though, it was a while ago I did mine so I might be talking complete hoop.

...but bear in mind that there is a 4th size of gasket - The one with no holes! (I kid you not!)

Have a look, you should see a narrow tab sticking out.
