Hi guys.

I was looking to buy a set of larger sockets for jobs on my Disco and Defender, but can't find anything decent that's not £100's. I therefore have decided to buy individual sockets as required. I already have 27mm for wheel nuts and 32mm (I think) and a box-type socket for the hub nuts, but does anyone know what other sizes are required to cover all eventualities.

Many thanks.

fking big hammer indeed - LOL!!

I've also acquired a 2 metre long 3/4" drive torque wrench which is not callibrated but for £20 makes a great breaker bar!!

Thanks for the replies - it looks like I won't need a full set then just a few large sockets.

I've also got a socket for the front drive pulley nut - can't remember what size this is though!

Get a 30mm-32mm spanner also as the R380 drain plug is not that accessible
and spanners on radius arm nuts can have a boot applied if FFFin tight

And a big f*ck off breaker bar. Of course, the only problem with a breaker bar is that 9 times out of ten, it's the bolt or your knuckles that you break when it gives...

You are better off with a tube spanner from paddock spares as a normal socket won't fit over the driveshaft on the front due to depth

Just bought a set of Stanley Fat Max spanners off e-bay for £25 which included, as well as a 'spare' set of 6-22mm I already have, 24mm, 27mm, 30mm and 32mm.
