hi
i wonder if any of you great people can help me
ive got a 1998 freelander 1.8 petrol and about two weeks ago it started jerking as i was on a long jounery i just feathered it home and it was fine for the next three or for days then it started again and i couldnt shake it off then on saturday morning it wouldnt start so i spent the day checking fuel pump ,injectors spark plugs fuses. when i spoke to the local lr dealer they said it could be because i have a hole in the flexy pipe any ideas guys ???????

and when i finally got it started it will not idle and a strong smells of rotten veg comes from back the head gasket is nealy new

It does very much sound like you still have a head issue. The head itself could be at fault.

Head gasket by the sounds of things.

Coolant leaks into the cylinders around the gasket seal, hence 'orrible smell.
