It's making a funny noise...

I have a 1994 RR classic which has been converted from air to springs. I was loaded down on Sunday, two kids and four bikes but not excessive but every time I went over something like a sleeping policeman I got a loud noise from the back of the car. It appears that the the car is going down on its suspension so that the tyres are rubbing on the inside of the rear doors. Does this mean I hav the wrong springs fitted or do I need some bumpstops fitted?
Just two big lumps of rubber bolted to the chassis. Should take about 10 mins to do both if you have a cup of tea in the middle of the job

If they're missing its an MOT fail.
BUT if you have oversize tyres or wheel spacers that could be the problem, as could weak/knackered springs. Two kids & bikes isn't a big load so you might want to have a look at them - to measure & compare measurements with new you do need to remove them.
Classics factory built with springs have a self-levelling device (Boge) which - when working - helps to avoid the problem. IIRC air suspension vehicles don't have this, so converting to coils can sometimes cause issues.
That said, removing the Boge unit is a common mod!
