Hi all-looking to get a FFRR in a couple of months with a budget around £17k. I only do 5k miles a year so after the V8 really but wanted to know is there a big difference between 04 and 05(facelift) model years? Is it just the sat nav or more to it than that? Many thanks Rich

Off the top of my head:

Touch screen nav rather than older button BMW based unit
Different front lights, grille, front bumper
Different seats
Key moved from centre console (a la Saab) to dash

Yep. That was in 07 when there was another interior facelift. My 06 had the key in the centre.

the engine ?

went from a BMW M62 to a Jag group engine

so the engine and all the electronics package is different...one is the "BMW Range Rover" and the next is the Jag model

I have a 2004 V8, as the real world difference of touch screen nav and 20bhp were not worth the price premium to me when I was buying.....

Yeah Sat Nav I`m not that bothered about as will use Tom Tom anyway as far better IMO. 20 BHp again doesnt bother me either really and does seem to be a big price rise between 04 and 05/06 model years

Are you sure? My mate had a S/C RRS and was struggling to get more than 8-12 mpg round town. My commute is only 10 miles a day in total but all stop start stuff so doubt I would see double figures whereas would hopefully be getting just under 20mpg in the 4.4?

Major thing about the MY07 was the addition of the Terrain Response (Snow setting etc).

Also if you go for the SC Vogue SE then you get the air cooled / heated seats and rear seat entertainment etc etc.

If you only do 5k miles per year, in my opinion, you should definately go for the SC. I do a little more than that and love every minute of mine.

ETA - i ran mine 8 miles to work and home again in stop start traffic all through the winter and avereaged around 12 mpg. Get 20mpg all day long if cruising at 70mph though.

Had mine 6 years and the commute is 6 miles stop start. Always 15mpg. On a run always 20mpg. It has all the toys inc rear entertainment. I absolutely love it. Will be in the classifieds soon frown

As long as its been serviced when it should and had all recalls done then i dont think you should be overly bothered about mileage.

Cant tell you from experience as mines has only done 3k miles in my ownership.

Mine was a 3.0 TD6. 9 Mile commute , stop/start. usually averaged about 20mpg. Friend had a 4.4 V8. Similar Journey, he usually averaged about 13 max.

I actually think the SC may be slightly more economical for a commute, especially when you've not got your foot jammed on the loud pedal.

well thank you all very much for the info-certainly has opened my eyes up to the possiblibilty of a S/C rather than just thinking no-way
