A good friend of mine has a 2005 Range Rover Sport HSE diesel. He's been offered a trade in by his local dealer to either a brand new Range Rover Sport diesel (but not an HSE model) or a 2010 HSE Sport diesel with 20,000 on the clock. His current car is on finance, and the dealer says he can either for another £50 a month. He's very attracted by the offer, but isn't sure which is the best of the two options. Any input from the wise on this part of the forum would be very much appreciated.

Does he want the extra toys, or the extra 'newness'. I think I would go for the HSE.

Is the 'new' car a 2012MY? The SE is not very nice, all wheels, half leather etc, but if it has the 8spd auto over the 2010MY 6 speed, it may well be a goer, but can't see the dealer offering a new car in exchange for a 2005 car for £50. Maybe I am wrong

Thanks guys. I think his main attraction is to a brand new car, but he's worried that a non HSE model may not be attractive come re-sale time. We're going out for a test drive this afternoon (in the new car, but he hasn't told me what model it is yet!), so I'll check what gearbox it has.
