Possible gearbox issues !!
Discussion
The wife's FFRR TD6 is making all the right noises for an impending gearbox meltdown, I think !!!
Judders at v low revs, then around 30 and again at 50mph. Not slipping any gears that I've noticed and no warning messages but I fear a large bill is heading my way.
My question is...will a flush and fluid change do anything now or is the damage done ? I have it booked in to LR to see what's wrong, is it worth changing the fluid before embarking on a £3000 bill ? Can this prevent the inevitable ?????
Thanks

This is what happened to mine, exactly:
2004 Td6 Vogue.
At 90k:
Car started being quite slow to select a forward gear when started from cold. It got worse. In the end it was taking a good 3/4 seconds to engage a forward gear. Doesn't sound terrible but it was the first sign.
I took it for a full box flush at a very well respected indy LR specialist. The forward gear delay got a bit better but not perfect. Down to a couple of seconds max.
At 95k:
A noticable but very faint judder when cruising along at low (10-25mph) speeds. Then the 'bongs' started.
'Transferbox Neutral' is the first one you'll likely see. Then you'll probably see a 'Trans Failsafe Mode' and your car will lock into 3rd gear allowing you to get home.
At 100k:
My car was bonging the above two messages approximately every 10-20 seconds and was driving me absolutely bats
t. Gearbox very slow to engage a gear, clunky changes and holding gears way to long, even on the flat.
I decided to get it replaced rather than risk a failure which fvcks something else. My specialist did me a very good deal: £1800 for a new auto box, fitted inc VAT. It was a rebuilt recon box that came with a 2 year unlimited mile warranty. I also ended up needing a new transfewr box motor too which cost £850 fitted inc VAT.
Hope that helps.
