am i a bit mad?
Discussion
i've gone and jumped in feet first into a 2012 rangey sport autobiography with the supercharged 5 ltr v8.i have only ever had an x5 in this type of car before which was admittedly quite good.i now have 2 kids so needed something that wasn't a low slung 2 seater.i was massively impressed with the spec, power and overall feel of this 3 tonne bohemoth.....the only problem??
i didn't even realise i was in the market for one until last week and as such have not done any research into how well i should get along with it.so chaps, have i done the right thing in buying the big petrol engine??am i likely to lose my shirt on resale in a couple of years ownership?? are they really as thirsty as people are telling me??(low teens per gallon?)
i still can't really believe i've been quite so impulsive but you're a long time dead i suppose!

it still doesn't compute!! 3 tonnes of pig iron accelerating to 62 in under 6 seconds seems wrong!! i did look at the overfinch stuff but to be honest the one i bought had that many whistles and bells on it (coupled with the fact i really didn't see the need to tweak the engine further) i fell for it straight away.it's like a first class vip airport lounge on wheels! ha!

cheers for the replies chaps...40k in 2 years!! wow!! so what, 45 grand for a car that cost about 85 k new?? how many miles had it done? had it been raped hard in those 2 years? i'm panicking a bit now!
Don't panic too much... Mr GC is good at throwing in doubt, confusion and generally going OT.
Residuals for the FFRR have always gone into free-fall once driven off the forecourt (£20k pa) and that's for an average car, let alone one that has been thrashed!!
A RRS is about half that.

that's crazy freefall for any brand.that can't be a straight forward job.
just trawling the classifieds now and 2 year old 5 ltr s/c with what look like highish miles are going for i.r.o mid 50k's.....that amount of depreciation i can handle for 2 years motoring.
if i remember correctly the dealer priced the car in question at £52.5K?just trawling the classifieds now and 2 year old 5 ltr s/c with what look like highish miles are going for i.r.o mid 50k's.....that amount of depreciation i can handle for 2 years motoring.
why won't it sell i asked? - people waiting for the new car/price of petrol for even the well healed/its black - the TDV8 is so, so good
and the car has not be 'thrashed' as someone suggested and mileage is i recall 'average' about 30K?
if it had not been black i might well have bought it?

The depreciation on each model is completely different!

The point I was making is that we are straying Off Topic... The original topic was regarding the Range Rover Sport. We are now talking about depreciation on a Range Rover. For people familiar with the brand & model, it's not too difficult but for someone new to the brand, this conversation could get a little confusing.
The depreciation on each model is completely different!

no, the point is you took the opportunity to have a cheap 'swipe' at me - yet againThe depreciation on each model is completely different!
M
i made a short post about depreciation in a FF supercharged - thats all - lol!
seriously though, i haven't got a clue when it comes to the intricacies of rangeys. i don't even know what FFRR even stands for.but yes, my main concern is about the petrol 5 ltr supercharged v8 sport autobiography.......or more specifically, all i really wanted to know was "am i off my rocker diving into such a leviathan??"

i'd have bought the FF supercharged if it had been any colour other than black (or red)
my apologies if my comments in any way spoilt your thread!
just tried to give another comparison with a similar car
