Looks like it did not have it's first service until 30 months old

Do they operate on long life or should it have been at 12 months old ??

No it should have been serviced yearly, regardless of mileage.

Every 15,000 miles or once a year

Don't understand ...by a £50k motor new and then not bother to service it for 30 months ...
