I'm looking to change my Disco 3 daily runner. With 5 kids we've always needed a seven seater but my eldest daughter is about to leave the nest and my 16 year old rarely comes out with the rest of us. Always off doing her own thing and will be driving herself soon! So it seems we'll now get away with only 5 seats. We do have a Labrador to ferry around occasionally. My OH really likes the Evoque 5 door dynamic as do I but I do wonder if it will be big enough in terms of luggage space. The alternative is a RR sport which certainly has the space and is probably more practical but doesn't have quite the same appeal to my OH and higher running costs. I've read on here that some think the rear seats are more spaceous in the Evoque. Don't want another Disco. I realise it's all very subjective and everyone's needs are different but I'd like to hear the views of anyone who's had either or both.

got to be the Sport - no self respecting Labrador wants to be seen in an Evoque - lol!

but seriously have you not considered the FFRR?

i've driven both the Evoque and Sport - totally different cars - i find the Evoque cramped and quite claustrophobic

My Labrador loved the back of the evoque, he is a smaller working dog though, not a big fet slobbering chocolate show dog.

my cocker spaniel loves the evoque, but you can't fit anything else in there. the boot is tiny. I'm off back to FFRR

IMHO Evoque is way too small for 5.

Mrs Get has one (and it's a great car - so much better than all the crap Discos she's owned), but one bearded Collie fills the back, and the back seats are JUST good enough for 3

RRS. Evoque is a great modern looking/driving car, but it simply won't meet your needs in terms of space. It will be just as thirsty as a RRS any way. Residuals on the Sport while not as good as the Evoque, are still not bad.

Buy the HSE, with Lux pack if you can.

Wifey drives a 2010 TDV8 Sport. She went on and on about the Evoque... When she got in one she was disappointed by the interior
it just doesn't seem as plush as the sport. I'm not saying it's bad just not the same feel as the Sport

Ours is an athletic working black lab. No flab. So imagine he'd get in the Evoque okay

Thanks for all the input. My love of gadgets makes the Evoque attractive but my head says go for the RRS. SWMBO won't entertain a FFRR and prefers the Evoque. A test drive in both to compare may go some way to making the decision, so that's on the agenda for this week sometime.

show dogs are anything but fat!

but there again i've never owned a show dog?

and mine are Sandringham/Drakeshead working dogs - big frame with a proper 'otter tail'!

i intensely dislike the current trend for breeding half size Labs!

Evoque actually has more rear headroom than a Sport, both are a little cramped in the back for 3. With your family and the dog I'd go for another Disco. The D4 is way nicer than the 3. Apart from the surround cameras and ambient lighting the Disco (or the Sport) has all the toys that the Evoque has and the same audio if you spec the upgrade.

After recent experiences with repairs on the Disco 3 I'm put off another Disco. Plus the neighbours have a 4 and my OH wants something different. TBH if it wasn't for the fact that the Disco has been so good when it's working I probably wouldn't have entertained another LR / RR. However nothing else seems to tick all the right boxes. I'm hoping reliability issues have improved with newer models. I was also hoping fuel consumption might be better than the 23mpg in the 3. Reading various threads it appears this may not be as good as I'd hoped!

Google - stand by me chopper sick balls.

Its a bit in the film where the dog looks all angry and chases after some kids before turning into a typical lab, all friendly. I am quite suprised you not seen the fil its quite a classic.
