switching off Discovery sat nav

2005 Discovery 3 SE.

Anyone know how to stop built in sat nav screen automatically coming on everytime you unlock and open any door or boot? Its really annoying as its killed the battery a few times as it doesn't go back off again unless you do it manually (switching on and off radio does it) - ie, I go out to car to get my glasses or to get something out the boot (with no intention of firing the car up), sat nav screen goes on when i open the door and stays on even after closing doors. If I don't manually switch it off, I come back half an hour later and b@strd thing is still on! (even if i lock the car) - its doing my head in!

Never heard of that, it shouldn't do it. Either there's a fault and you need to get it fixed or - are you sure it's not an after market system? A lot of LR3 / Disco 3's didn't have nav as standard and perhaps it's been retro fitted, we've done a few Magellan's on LR2's.

its defo a factory fitted one - will get it checked out next time something else goes wrong (which shouldn't be too long!)

It's got a fault somewhere - after you lock the car, it should 'go to sleep' after about 2 minutes, and switch it off. Give Iain Lambert a call at Offroad Essentials, he'll be able to sort it out for you - http://www.offroad-essentials.com/contact.html
