OK and so it begins........ I've had a rr sport 2.7td v6 for all of a month and she's been Good. Now here is the issue, the wife locked the car earlier but now neither fobs will unlock the car?. Any ideas?

I can't see an external key lock for the key? Am I cattle trucked?

Plastic cover to the rear of the front passenger door handle ( not the part you pull) pops off to reveal a key hole. Can't help with the locking though.

Great I'm in thanks. Cars completely dead but battery posts are warm cars been off for hours?

Mmm smells expensive I suspect burt out alternator. You gotta laugh.....

Oooohhh... Yeah, it could be a knackered alternator. When those things let go, they can sometimes short out across the battery, trashing that too!!

Just an update ....... Ok dealer diagnosis was indeed alternator which fried the battery. Lucky we bought with a warranty which softened the blow.

Decided to have main service as well so £505 for alternator. £ 180 for new battery. And £470 for service. Oh and stuck brake calliper rear £ 200 ish.... All approx I will check when I see the final bill tomorrow....

Thanks for the help... 8 weeks in already thinking I should have stuck with the X5..
