Help - RR 3.6 TDV8 Vogue

Hello experts,
Please help me with my small issue. We found a very reasonably priced RR today which we've just put down a deposit on. It's a 2010 TDV8 3.6 priced at 36k. Seemingly it was 2 previous owners and an import which accounted for the significant cost saving. I've since discovered that the car is a pre-face lifted model (2010 reg threw me) and I'm less than impressed with the dealer who nodded when I asked if it was a face lifted model.
Question is, is it still a good value motor for the price, and should we go ahead with the purchase? We're looking to keep it for 4-5 years as a family car. Any help much appreciated.

Well I'm not claiming to be an expert but have spent the past two weeks studying/searching for a Discovery 4/RR Sport or the full Range Rover. I think you should spend an hour or two looking through the Land Rover website, checking the prices for similar cars on Autotrader and look at specialist dealers such as Ongar Bridge Garage. The car you describe is a bit of a hard one...It's two years old, two owners already, an import and how many miles? My concerns would include exactly where was it imported from and is it to UK specification because if not, what guarantee will you get from Land Rover UK and that is important because they are not free from troubles which can be expensive. When you want to sell it, will anyone take an import in part exchange..I doubt a LR dealer would accept it. The price you quote is "good" but what is it..a Vogue, a Vogue SE or an Autobiography? If you have the slightest doubt about the dealer then despite the price I would stop right now. Yes you might save £5/10,000 of course but is the car totally, provably legal and free of all finance? HPI check?..did YOU do it? I have to say that I would only buy a Range Rover from a full LR dealer if the price was over £30,000 because it is a lot of money and a lot of car to sort out if it has a "history". It sounds cheap but nobody sells anything "cheap" unless there is a reason. I have looked at plenty this past week and still baulk at paying £40,000 for cars that are "09/59" plate so your new car is something only you can decide on but...go very careful..maybe check the chassis number with a local LR dealer who can tell you where it was sold, when it was made and potentially any fault history.
Good luck..I'm still looking for a nice, honest, low mileage car at reasonable cost and there are plenty that do not fulfil that criteria.

HQB - much appreciated and food for thought. The vehicle is 25k on the clock and is being sold by Harwoods which I believe is a dealer of LR, unless I am much mistaken. Seems the car is a Vogue, but as a relative newbie, not sure on the fundamental differences on Vogue and Vogue SE..

Shame you can't mention the dealer on here - may also be worth introducing yourself to the crowd at fullfatrr.com and mention the story above -always good to try and give something back to the community that will support you once you're an owner 
I'd suggest chatting with Gary Elliot at Gary Elliot Prestige Cars as he's well known in the community and originally bought and sold as a bit of a hobby - he's not out to make a killing and sells very good quality cars - if he has something coming in then worth a shout!
At £30k plus personally I've always gone to LR dealers (I say always...twice
FFRR and now D3) I'd recommend Beadles in Sidcup (I've dealt with Peter Hope there who has always been very helpful) or LR Lookers at Park Royal - again they are not only very helpful but are active on forums helping people out so not just there for the buck, they genuinely have an interest.
If you post up on fullfatrr.com that you're looking and introduce yourself I'll almost guarantee a number of people will point you to good cars within price range and the Lookers PR bunch will likely contact you if they have something of interest.

Well - quick update:
The HP has been cleared and is still showing on the HPI for some reason, so the dealer is exonerated totally from that malarkey.. However they did know about it which I maintain should have been mentioned.
Anyway, it seems the 2010 plate was misleading as the car was built in 2008 (09 plate) and registered in the UK in 2010. I am somewhat hacked off as the dealer is advertising the car without pointing this out - pricing it at comparable 59 plate models -
Now I'm wondering if I should press on at all, or put in an offer for what I reasonably expect an 08/09 model to cost..
Thoughts?

You are spending oodles of cash, you are worried about this car. It will always nag at you, I'd ask for my deposit back and start the search again. Indeed - there speaks a man of wisdom. Something is nagging at me with this car, but having driven it (and inspected the mileage) there doesn't appear to be much wrong, apart from the deceipt, wilful or otherwise. Time will tell!
Edited to say - no deposit taken (we agreed in a gentlemanly way that I would make full payment next day). I wish to honour that agreement unless the wrongdoing is malicious or wilfully deceiptful, as above.

Ah, you said in the OP you paid a deposit. In this case, I'd be inclined to walk even quicker. I'd also be worried about giving that particular dealer anymore business. - they knew it was pre facelift, nodded along when you asked if it was a facelift model, so lied blatantly to get a sale
- the sales guy had no idea if it was a facelift model or not, thus they really should not be trying to flog this type of vehicle and can't be trusted as an expert
That said, now that you are in full possession of the facts, point it out and low ball them with an offer below its true value, they'll likely knock you back and wait for a punter that believes its a 10 model and is only interested in the two digits on the plate as a status symbol.

Have another look at Autotrader, loads of FFRR on there at c£35k and not much more for the facelift.
This car sounds like it is dearer if anything than a comparable car especially given it is an old model and an import, both of which will almost certainly bite you when you come to sell....
