In a moment of madness, I've managed to persuade the Missus that a 200TDi Disco would be a good daily runner for her, and that if we could find an unmolested one it could be a future classic - especially as most now seem to have been heavily modified for off roading!! So we have found one for £900 and collect it at the weekend. I will report back on any faults that develop smile

Checked all the usual rust spots and it's pretty solid. Will attack any small rust spots over the winter and paint/Waxoly the underside. Got another 200 that I'm currently scrapping so got a good supply of used parts. With most of the older Discos now scrapped or used for off roading, I thought it would be nice to preserve one.

I fancy a series 2 or 3 for teaching my 16 year old daughter to drive next april. I figured that depreciation would be zero, and insurance cheap ?

...and if she can drive a Series, she'll be able to drive anything.

It'll be cheap to insure whilst she's a learner but watch it go bonkers when she passes her test!

had a young lad knock on my door lst night asking if my td5 disco was for sale ( he'd spotted it hadnt moved for a while lol)

he is just about to take his test and had asked for a quote on a defender.. 9k to buy the defender 6k to insure it for a year !!!

seems times have changed from when landrovers were the cheap option for kids to insure.
