Only half of it works, and there's literally a straight line down the middle. Any thoughts what this might be? Is it a case of replacing the windscreen, a fuse or some other part? It wouldn't be so bad if it was the passenger side that didn't work!

Thanks all.

Worth checking the connections under the scuttle to check the feed to the screen. Check the continuity through the screen at the same time. There have been problems with some heated screens in the market place but these normally are apparent straight away.

The two halves of the screen are wired separately with individual feeds, hence one half working and the other not.

As above - there is an electrical connection called a busbar which links the individual elements. The connection will be at the cowl top. Elements sometimes fail leaving a line that may not clear but this separation left to right will almost certainly be a connector issue.

This, and good luck in finding what hopefully will be just a connection fault.

At my last place of work, Stratstone Land Rover, they replaced the windscreens on both examples of cars that had this fault!

Would be funny if yours (or others) were just connector issues.

The trouble is that the electrical connections from the elements to the 'plug' are partially in the PVB interlayer, and the remainder is held externally in a plastic sheath. If any part of either of these go then you will need a new screen.

How did you get on OP?
