Defender 90 Reliability
Discussion
I am looking to get a Defender 90. 2.2 ex-demo and was wondering just how reliable they are? I realise that they won't be the most comfortable of drives.
Anything I need to keep an eye on?
I understand the the ladder frame does not have the greatest rust proofing and wondered what people do to protect this?

Go for it!
I have recently bought a 2.4 and test drove the 2.2 - and also had one as a courtesy car for a while.
The 2.2 seems a bit nippier on take-off but, I read somewhere that the 2.2 has a DPF(?) filter which can clog up with the lack of use or low miles.
I had a few issues with mine on purchase s/h from the dealer but they are now all sorted and were not significant, more sort of annoying.
Apart from a 30 miles round trip to work, have just done a couple of 600 mile round trips in her and no issues at all.

Engine warning light, which was only a minor thing and was easily sorted and a few annoying things due to:
Faulty seal around the body, just below the window line, letting water in - and
Fault with the side window seal at the back causing the window frame to rattle.
All easy fixes really.
