I'm looking at changing my L322 for something a little newer... initially I was only considering a TDV8 but for the sort of money I'm looking at spending I can get a newer well specced D4....
Are they comparable or are we talking completely different playing fields??? I've a couple of friends who have moved from FF to D4 and are very happy but I'd like another opinion....
Two examples to compare are as below......

The cars are completely different but a top spec D4 (HSE) is a very comfortable place to be but it doesn't have the TDV8 grunt. The 3.0 TDV6 is a comparable on paper but they are both very different engines.

I'm not going to tell you which one you need to buy, just go & test drive a few & make your own mind up. It might also be worth having a quick look at a RRS as that is built on the same platform as the Disco but you can get it with the TDV8. wink

What engine do you have in your current L322? If it's the early diesel then you'll be very happy with the TDV6 in the D4. Goes very well.

If you're used to an FFRR, I'd suggest going looking at HSE spec D4s. Daft as it sounds, the extra toys and softer leather make quite a difference over an XS if they are things you look for.
